Roger: Folder Migration
Learn to map your pre-existing Outlook or Gmail folders to your Roger Projects and Tags! This quickly organizes your already existing messages.
Map Your Folders
You can map your folders when you sign up. If you want to do or change this later, you can do so at any time by clicking Settings and then Folder Migration.
Choose whether you want messages from any existing folder to be marked as Done, assigned a Project, and/or assigned a Tag.
Note that you can also assign multiple Projects or Tags if you see fit!
Why should I care?
Our folder migration feature lets any new users take all of the work they’ve done in organizing in Outlook, and make sure everything is mapped to the new organization that can be done in Roger.
Roger lets emails have both Projects and Tags. Emails no longer need to exist in a single folder or spot. Something can be tagged as an RFI and a PCO.
How do I get there?
Click the gear in the top right of header bar. It will take you to settings, and choose the “Folder Migration” option in the left-hand menu.
What’s the difference between projects and tags?
A project is an organized, focused group of work. For most of our users, this is a building — Burger King TI, for example.
Tags are workflows that exist across multiple projects — something you do in every project. RFIs, Submittals, Change Orders, etc.
How do I map projects and tags?
Simply click in the box next to the folders. Either choose or create a new project to apply the mapping. Tip: Any project or tag added to a folder with subfolders will automatically add that tag or project to all the folders nested underneath.
Best Practice:
Our most active users take time when they sign up to really choose how they want to organize their work. This is a moment where you can start fresh.
What is the ‘Mark Done’ Column?
This takes all of the emails out of the inbox that have been dragged into this folder (in Outlook). For 90% of users, you will want emails to be Marked Done. The only users who might want to uncheck this setting are those who use automatic rules in Outlook, and want certain emails to show up in the Roger inbox despite being routed automatically into a certain folder.
